I've finished another practice project! This one is a small zipper pouch, for toiletries or makeup, with a zipper top and piped edges. Piping is not only a pretty decorative touch, but it can help a soft-sided bag hold its shape. To add piping, you have to sew the bag inside out, then turn it right side out when it's all complete.
I created these beautiful foiled panels a year ago to use for one of my clutches. That's a whole other story, really. It took me weeks to figure out how to lay down the foil with such intricate detail in five different colors. And once I figured it out, it still took two full days to create them. Unfortunately, after all of that, there were a couple of tiny mistakes along the outside edges and I didn't feel they were perfect enough to make a clutch with, so I had to scrap them. But I loved them so much that I've been looking all year for a smaller project I could use them for in which those mistakes wouldn't show. And this bag was the perfect solution.
